The Norse Lore Review is a hand-stitched, biannual journal of Crimean Gothic literary fiction. We are interested in reading twelve-line poems in which line three rhymes with line six, line two is a half-rhyme with line seven, and the final words of line twelve are: “entombed in the belly of a whale.”
We will also consider flash fiction about the fishing industry in medieval Iceland. We do not accept simultaneous submissions. We do not accept multiple submissions. We do not accept electronic submissions.
For your work to be considered, it must be double spaced, twelve point and written in Crimean Gothic; printed on 100% cotton hot-pressed paper; scented with vanilla and tied with a black ribbon in a single bow.
The manuscript must be placed in an oak display case and carried to our offices in Bergen, Norway on foot, where it will be anointed by monks and deposited in an archive for our eventual consideration. You may not enter the archive. We’re serious about this – not even a peek.
We cannot guarantee that your work will be read. We do not support the careers (or even the concept) of emerging writers.
Our decision, if we ever make one, will consist of a simple “Yes,” or “No,” calligraphed on a one-inch square of rice paper. It will be carried to your funeral by a blue-headed quail-dove and placed on the centre of your forehead as you lie in your casket.
We at the Norse Lore Review know everything there is to know about words. Hence we know the objective merits (or otherwise) of your work. Our decision is final and sacrosanct. It is Law.
Thank you for thinking of the Norse Lore Review. We look forward to receiving your submission.
