A lot. You explore themes here that resonate with me; loneliness, solitude, liminality. I love the way you transition into the past and back again, accentuating the protagonist's current state of being through these memories. I also like the way you end the story, bringing that inner sense of 'fading away' into the external. As Jen says above, a strong ending. Oh I like this. A lot.
